If you watch just half an hour of TV, you’re very likely to come across at least one advertisement for a chocolate flavored drink that claims to have several health benefits. These ‘benefits’ are supposed to help kids grow tall within a matter of weeks, run marathons as well as ace every exam they right. They’re always accompanied by words like ‘proven’, ‘lab results’ or ‘research’ to make the claims sound legit. And as parents who want the best for their kids, we often end up buying these drinks.
However, the truth is that most of these ‘health drinks’ are anything but healthy. They often contain a lot of added sugar, flavors, preservatives and other unidentifiable ingredients. One look at the label on the jar can leave you all confused! But when your child does not drink milk in its original form, many Moms resort to these out of sheer frustration.
But not any more! Here we have a healthy, wholesome recipe for a chocolate drink that marries the convenience of a regular health drink to the goodness of whole grain – a Multigrain Chocolate Milkshake recipe. And no, you don’t need to make your own multigrain milk powder, you can just buy it from the My Little Moppet Store – and it comes free of harmful additives and preservatives! With ingredients like ragi, jowar, bajra, sesame seeds, nuts and more, you can be assured of high quality nutrition!
Homemade Chocolate Milkshake with Multigrain Milk Powder
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoon of Multigrain Health drink powder
- 1 teaspoon of Hershey’s chocolate powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of sugar or jaggery (optional)
- 100 ml of milk
Method
1. Heat the milk till very hot.
2. Add the multigrain health drink powder and the chocolate powder to the piping hot milk and whisk till completely dissolved.
3. If adding sugar, do it now and whisk again. Let the milk cool down a little.
4. Refrigerate the chocolate milk till it’s time to serve. Whisk well once more and pour into a tall glass and serve with a straw.
In summers, you can serve this with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. In winters, skip the chilling and serve in a large mug with a few marshmallows. You can also garnish with extra chocolate powder, strawberries or chocolate wafer sticks.
This drink is so easy and healthy, it’s the perfect option for when kids come home from school, exhausted and needing something to feel refreshed. It’s also ideal for those days when kids are particularly fussy and you need to ensure their nutrient intake for the day. And unlike other drinks, you don’t need to worry about any additives – just healthy, guilt-free enjoyment!
