Rice (Brown) makes the baby’s perfect first food due to its dense natural nutrition and fiber. Rice is the Staple food of our nation and introducing chawal ka paani or rice soup after 6 months is an ideal choice. Please don’t forget the 3 day rule before introducing any new food.
How to make Rice Soup/Chawal Ka Paani for Babies
The best recommended rice is the Organic Brown Rice. But Since I didn’t have stock I have used white rice for this recipe.
Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp of Rice
- 9 Tbsp of water
Method
Sterilize all the utensils either using a Sterilizer or by placing the utensils in boiling hot water.
1.Take 3 tbsp of rice in a bowl and add water. Soak the rice for 15 to 20 minutes.
2. Wash the rice in running water and add water 3 times that of rice. (3:1)
3. Place the bowl in the flame and cook it.
4. You can cook with or without the lid, be careful while cooking as the water may foam outside.
5. Switch off the flame after the rice is nicely cooked as shown in the below picture.
6. Mash the contents with masher or thick spoon. Mash while it is hot, since it will be difficult to make a paste after it has become cold.
7. Remove the water with little of mashed rice as shown in the below picture
8. Your “Rice SoupChawal ka paani” is ready
As the baby grows, the mashed rice can also be given. Give the soup a little warm so that the baby can get adapted to its bland taste.

Hi, I used organic brown rice- a packaged one from the market and even after 7 pressure cooker whistles my rice wasn’t cooked. Does brown rice take a long time to cook compared to white rice?
Hai, brown rice needs more water to cook. Sine different brands cook differently, increase the rice water ratio and allow for 6 to 7 whistles. You can achieve the perfect consistency only by trial and error
Hi, <br />thanks for the recipes. But why have you used white rice when the recipe says brown rice ?
Hai, thank you for visiting My Little Moppet, I didn't have stock of organic brown rice, so used white rice, for my next recipe on homemade rice cereal, I will be using brown one..,,
