The Power of a Great Dad: Trust and Empowerment
Every daughter has a special relationship with their dad and it takes special effort and care to become a GREAT DAD
Well here is a story about one such #GreatDad !!! My Dad!!
I love this quote
” My Father gave me the greatest gift in life he BELIEVED in me”
Growing up, my dad, a strict professor at Madurai Kamaraj University, instilled discipline both in his classroom and at home. However, despite his strictness, he always believed in my ability to make the right choices. Whether it was my education or my future husband, he granted me the freedom to decide for myself. This unwavering support left me uncertain as a parent, questioning whether I will be able to offer the same level of freedom to my own children.
My dad’s influence extended beyond belief in my decision-making. He kindled my love for books, often bringing me new ones whenever he went to the store. During childhood summers, I pursued various interests such as crafts, painting, singing, and dancing. While my mom may not have fully appreciated my diverse passions, it was my dad who encouraged me to explore and discover what truly resonated with me.
When it came to nutrition and health, my dad was firm. I faced an hour of scolding when I had to start wearing spectacles in 6th grade, and as a result, television was completely banned until I finished 12th grade. Can you believe it? Six years without television! Nowadays, my son throws tantrums even at the mere thought of a single-day ban on television!
Interestingly, it was my dad who allowed me to skip my 12th-grade model exams so I could focus on preparing for the finals. And it paid off—I secured a place in the elite MBBS course. Reflecting on it all, I realize how fortunate I am to have such a great dad in my life.
I still cherish my dad’s words when I struggled with low marks in my first year of MBBS. He reminded me that education is more than just grades—it’s about practicing what we learn in life. I pass on this wisdom to my son, encouraging him to prioritize knowledge over achieving high marks.
Whenever I feel down, I turn to my dad for guidance, warmth, and comfort. A brief conversation with him boosts my spirits and fuels my determination. He knows exactly what to say, even when I’m overwhelmed. His guidance is straightforward and strict, molding me into the person I am today.
My dad’s journey is even more remarkable. Despite a tough childhood and financial challenges, he boldly quit a government job to pursue higher studies. Through hard work and perseverance, he earned his post-graduation and secured his dream job as a university lecturer.
My dad’s story is a testament to his unwavering belief in following dreams and carving one’s own path. He’s not just a great dad; he’s an inspiration, guiding me to strive for more in life.
He always told me
” Choose a job you love and you never have to work a day in your life”
Though I love my job as a doctor due to circumstances I had to resort to something to work from home. When I decided to start this website, both my dad and my hubby backed me up and encouraged me to launch the venture while many ridiculed for quitting my medical career and going online with a blog.
I am proud and grateful to call this wonderful man as my DAD !! Love you Dad !!
I am not very poetic, but my dad deserves this one…
” You held me when I fell
You spoilt me, You cared for Me
When things got hard, you pushed me through,
I know there were times when I have let you down,
But you were always there for me,
With your Wise Counsel and Encouragement,
I am grateful to be your daughter.
Thanks Dad for you are One in a Million.
I just wanted to say
I Love You
In Every way Every single day !!
