I am Dr Hema, I founded MyLittleMoppet in 2014 to help new moms feed their tiny babies healthy and nutritious foods.
I have shared many nuggets of my personal life and my own parenting journey on the blog, and many Moms have said that they’ve been able to relate to it. However, there’s been one aspect which I haven’t shared with you, something that I’ve actually wanted to talk about, but somehow hesitated. Yet, now I think there are many Moms out there who’re in the same boat as me and would love an open conversation on the topic. The topic of losing the baby weight.
I’ve always been on the chubbier side tickering over normal and overweight, but when I realized how much weight I had put on after the birth of my daughter, I was shocked! I was still too busy with an infant to actually do anything about it, but when my baby grew into a toddler and had to be chased around, I found that the extra weight was actually holding me back from fully enjoying motherhood. That’s when I talked to other Moms and found that I was not alone!
When you have a helpless little newborn in your arms, you put aside everything else to tend to your baby. That’s perfectly fine; the problem is when you start making it a habit of putting your needs last. Seeing that most Moms were in need of some guidance, support and community, I decided to start the ‘Eat Right and Get Fit’ series.
This is a brand new series launched exclusively on My Little Moppet, and will tackle several common health and fitness challenges in Moms. I know by experience that fad diets and going crazy at the gym don’t work – a more holistic approach with small everyday changes are what will make a difference.
With that in mind, our new series will focus on the following:
- Healthy food choices and swaps
- Easy recipes with available ingredients
- Healthy drink choices
- Specific solutions for specific needs
- Quick workouts for Moms
- Rest and sleep health
- Simple ways to stay active
- Ideas for better mental health and increased confidence
