Beetroot Halwa

A yummy dessert recipe with beetroot and jaggery and without milk

Ingredients

  • 1 medium sized beetroot
  • 1 teaspoon organic jaggery for babies above 1 year
  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • Almonds for garnishing

Instructions

  • Wash and peel the beetroot.
  • Chop them into small pieces.
  • Steam the beetroot in a cooker or bowl filled with water.
  • Puree the steamed beetroot.
  • In a <g class="gr_ gr_356 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="356" data-gr-id="356">kadai</g>, heat a teaspoon of ghee.
  • Add in the beet puree and saute till raw smell leaves.
  • Add jaggery powder to the <g class="gr_ gr_357 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="357" data-gr-id="357">sauted</g> puree.
  • Add a pinch of elaichi powder and saute well.
  • Saute till ghee leaves the halwa

Notes

I have added <g class="gr_ gr_369 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="369" data-gr-id="369">mishri sugar since I cooked for my toddler.
A little breastmilk can be added to make it a little watery.
Half a teaspoon of dry fruits powder can be added
