Barley Vegetable Khichdi for Babies

Here we bring to you a power-packed recipe for babies. It’s our “Barley Vegetable Khichdi for Babies”, a wholesome tasty meal with nutritious vegetables.This protein and fiber rich khichdi can be given to 6 months+ babies. It can be introduced after introducing the basic foods like rice, dal etc. For elder babies and adults, the same recipe can be made with the whole barley.

Ingredients

  • Organic Barley powder – ¼ cup
  • Moong dal soaked and drained– 2 Tbsp
  • Chopped Carrot – 1 Tbsp
  • Chopped Potato – 1 Tbsp
  • Green peas – 1 Tbsp
  • Jeera powder – 1 Tsp
  • Turmeric – ¼ Tsp
  • Asafoetida Hing – A pinch
  • Ghee – 1 Tsp

Instructions

  • Heat ghee in a cooker.
  • Add Jeera powder.
  • Add carrot, potato and green peas and sauté for few seconds.
  • Add moongal and sauté.
  • Add Barley and saute.
  • Add turmeric and hing to it.
  • Add 1 cup of water. The water quantity can be increased or decreased as per the desired consistency.
  • Let it cook for 3-4 whistles.
  • Mash well.
  • Yummy Khichdi is ready to serve.
