Rinse the sago pearls and soak them in enough water for 4-5 hours.
In another bowl, soak the pitted dates in water.
After the soaking time, pulse the dates in a blender along with the soaked water to get a fine paste. You may add more water to make the paste if required.
In a sauce pan add the dates puree and soaked sago pearls. Add 1/2 cup water. Stir well.
Cook it for 7-10 minutes on low flame until the sago is cooked well and they turn transparent. Keep stirring the porridge while cooking to ensure it does not catch the bottom of the sauce pan.
Put off the flame. Add the cardamom powder. Give a quick stir. Allow the porridge to cool down a bit before serving.
