Spinach and Paneer Gujiya/Sprouted Sathumaavu Gujiya

  • For the Dough:
  • Sprouted sathumaavu - 1/2 cup
  • Wheat - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt
  • For the Filling:
  • Spinach - 1/2 cup
  • Garlic finely chopped - 2 cloves
  • Green Chilli Paste - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paneer - 1/2 cup
  • Oil for frying


  • In a large mixing bowl, add flour with salt, ghee/oil and dry mix well.
  • Now gradually start adding water and knead to make a soft dough.
  • Cover the dough with a muslin cloth and keep aside.
  • In a bowl add spinach, green chilli paste, chopped garlic, salt and mix well.
  • Add grated paneer and mix well.
  • Now take dough and pinch a small amount dough and roll into balls.
  • Flatten the ball to make small circle.
  • Take spoonful of filling and place it in the dough.
  • Fold and seal the sides to make gujiyas.
  • Deep fry the gujiyas on both sides until it becomes golden brown.
  • Serve hot.
