Ragi Uttapam for Toddlers

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ragi flour
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped vegetables (carrots, beans, bell peppers, etc.)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
  • salt to taste
  • water as needed
  • oil or ghee for cooking

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ragi flour, rice flour, chopped vegetables,onions, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and salt.
  • Gradually add water to the mixture and whisk well to form a smooth batter. The consistency should be similar to regular dosa batter.
  • Heat a non-stick tawa or griddle on medium heat and drizzle a little oil or ghee on it.
  • Pour a ladleful of the ragi batter onto the tawa and spread it gently in a circular motion to form a thin pancake.
  • Cook the uttapam for a couple of minutes until the bottom turns golden-brown. Flip it over and cook the other side as well.
  • Cut the uttapam into small pieces or bite-sized portions suitable for your toddler.
  • Serve warm with a side of coconut chutney or tomato chutney.
