Chocolate Trail Mix

Ingredients

  • 100 gms almonds Split in half
  • 50 gms sunflower seeds
  • 30 gms flax seeds
  • 50 gms dates Pitted and cut into pieces
  • 50 gms raisins
  • 600 gms quick cooking oats
  • 250 ml honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 gms cocoa powder

Instructions

  • In a large pan, combine the sunflower seeds, the flax seeds and the almonds and toast over medium flame, until the flax seeds stop popping. Remove and set aside to cool.
  • Pour the oats into the pan and toast them over medium heat until light brown and nutty smelling.
  • Add the dates and the raisins into the oats, add the nut-seed mix as well. Mix to combine thoroughly and evenly.
  • Drizzle honey and add the vanilla. Mix until all the dry ingredients incorporate the honey evenly. The mixture should be still crumbly.
  • Turn off heat and sprinkle cocoa powder evenly over the oats, honey, dry fruit and nut-seed mixture, turn over to coat all the ingredients with cocoa.
  • Allow to cool, then store in airtight containers.
