Wash the mung dal with water thoroughly. Drain, Soak in enough water for 10 minutes.
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add minced garlic and saute for few seconds. Next add finely chopped onion, if using. Saute for 1 minute or so.
Next add in the pumpkin pieces followed by soaked mung dal and stir fry for another 1 minute. Add 1 1/2 cup water to the cooker and cover with the lid. Pressure cook for 2 whistles. Put off the flame.
Open the lid of the cooker once all the pressure has been released naturally.
Now add roasted cumin powder and using a hand blender pulse the cooked mung dal and pumpkin mix to get a lump free porridge.
Spoon out the porridge in a bowl and serve to your baby while it is warm.
