Broken Wheat Pumpkin Porridge
Recipe type: Porridge
Cuisine: Indian
Broken wheat or dalia is rich in fiber, calcium, vitamins, carbohydrates, and iron. Broken wheat pumpkin porridge serves as a healthy and filling food for babies in the form of sweet or savory porridge. I have added pumpkin in this porridge and cooked it in a pressure cooker. Pumpkin is rich in immunity boosting nutrients. More vegetables can be added to the porridge to make it all the more nutritious and delicious.
  • Pumpkin slices (deseeded and peeled) - ¼ cup
  • Broken wheat / dalia - 2 tablespoon
  • Ghee - 1 teaspoon
  1. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add broken wheat to it and stir fry for 1-2 minutes. You will get a lovely nutty aroma.
  2. Next add in the pumpkin pieces and stir fry for another 1 minute. Add 1½ cup water to the cooker and cover with the lid. Pressure cook for 2 whistles. Put off the flame.
  3. Open the lid of the cooker once all the pressure has been released naturally.
  4. Now using a hand blender pulse the cooked broken wheat and pumpkin mix to get a lump free porridge.
  5. Serve warm.
