This bread halwa recipe is perfect for babies and toddlers and can be made with a few ingredients - including leftover bread slices!
  • Whole wheat Bread - 4
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Palm Sugar/ Brown Sugar - ½ cup
  • Homemade Ghee - 4 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder - ⅛ tsp

  • Raisins - 1 tbsp
  1. Keep all the ingredients ready. Cut the bread into cubes.
  2. Heat a thick bottomed pan with 2 tbsp of ghee and add cashews and raisins, fry them until golden brown. Remove from the pan once done. Then add bread cubes.

  5. When all the milk is added, cook it on a low-medium flame for 10-12 minutes or until the bread is mashed and soft. Give a stir occasionally.
  6. Once the milk is almost completely absorbed, add brown sugar and cardamom. Mix well. After adding sugar, the mixture will release a little liquid but will thicken with time. Cook it further until all the milk is absorbed. Keep stirring in between and add the remaining ghee slowly.
  7. When the halwa forms a whole mass and doesn't stick to the pan, add the fried cashews & raisins and switch off the flame.
  8. Transfer to a dish and serve immediately.
